General Information
Level:0-10 Season:January 1 — December 31 -
This place doesn't break as often some of the nearby spots, but when it does you get some decent waves that are suitable for everybody, experienced or not. It is it is a good place to be out with an excellent atmosphere, whether you are here for the fun summer waves or the big winter swells.
-
Beach
-
The beach is sandy and it is a decent length although it is only narrow. It's a quiet place during the week and in winter, but at weekends it gets very crowded and to those in the know it is the place to hang out, even if they aren't surfing.
-
Wind&Waves
-
This place works best when the swell is coming up from the south, and it will start working at less than 1 m and reach a couple of metres in summer and maybe 3.5 m in winter. The main part breaks right and left over a reef, and it is fast and powerful and a lot of fun. Length is short at around 50 m, though it can reach 150 m on a good day. If you don't fancy the long paddle out to the reef, then you have the choice of much smaller and easier beach break.
-
Facilities
-
Parking is fairly limited, you'll probably want to find somewhere just off the old highway and then take a stroll down to the beach. There aren't really any facilities here as the few buildings are all private residences, but you aren't far away from Ventura and plenty of people base themselves there.
-
Safety
-
When the swell is at its biggest, the kelp can be a hazard. That's about all though, as long as you don't get exhausted by long paddle out to the reef and back.
