General Information
Level:0-10 Season:November 1 — April 30 -
This is a great little lagoon on the southern edge of the island, near to the pleasantly named Blossom Village. It is a spot that can provide a good day out for windsurfers and kitesurfers of all abilities.
-
Beach
-
The beach is sandy and long but fairly narrow, with only a few launching points to choose from. It isn’t ever crowded though, and as usual the water is warm enough all year for you to forget about a wetsuit, although some sun protection is advised.
-
Wind&Waves
-
The wind is best between November and April, when you will usually get 15-20 knots from the southeast which makes it a sideshore, though it can be gusty at times. Summers are very calm unless a tropical weather system is moving through the area, so you’ll either get zero wind or well over 30 knots. The water is shallow throughout the lagoon, and is usually choppy unless the wind is very strong, in which case it gets a bit choppy. It’s clean, and as the tidal range is less than 1m it doesn’t affect the conditions.
-
Facilities
-
You can buy food and drink close by here, and there are showers and toilets open to everyone on the beach. It’s a resort island so most of the transport arrangements tend to be made through them, but you can organise it all yourself if you prefer.
-
Safety
-
The east end of the beach is a bit rocky, but there are plenty of other places to launch and overall this is a very safe place to either learn or just practice without worrying about hazards.
