General Information
Level:5-10 Season:April 1 — November 1 -
Nestling on the southern side of Italy on the Amalfi coast is the spot of Spiaggia Duoglie which is about 2 kms west of Amalfi itself. This particular stretch of coastline is renowned for its rugged terrain, scenic beauty and pretty towns and villages. This spot is popular with kitesurfers who have some experience since there are some rocks that can be hazardous. The season runs from April to November although off season is possible here.
-
Beach
-
The beach here is quite small and made up of hard compact sand and is surrounded by cliffs and rocks. Although it is normally fairly quiet here, it can get busy in the summer months with holidaymakers especialy at the weekends. The beach is located just west of Amalfi and you can park nearby where it is a short stroll to the beach.
-
Wind&Waves
-
The main wind directions are west northwest and east southeast and both of these directions although sideshore, work pretty well here. The water is crystal clear and tends to be choppy with some small waves. The summers are warm here as is the water and you can get by with just a pair of shorts or a shorty. Once you reach the winter months, you will need to suit up accordingly.
-
Facilities
-
There is very little at this beach so it is best to bring some provisions with you. Salerno or Amalfi are the nearest towns and both of these have a good selection of shops, restaurants, bars, hotels and other accommodation. The night life is pretty good too and centers mainly around the sea front bars and hotels.
-
Safety
-
This spot is not suited to beginner kiters since there are cliffs surround the beach and also several rocks in or near the water. Watch out for crowds on the beach in the summer months and swimmers in the water.
