General Information

Level:7-9 Season:June 1 — August 31

Spreckelsville is literally the windiest beach in all of the northern shores of Maui. A small residential area at only 1.5 miles long located in between Kahului and Paia, windsurfers treasure this area as it is one of the few places they can easily launch from. In fact, not only does Spreckelsville make for easy takeoff, but it also provides some good challenges for the most advanced enthusiasts.

Beach

There are large reefs located on either sides of the beach, and should be avoided by windsurfers. But the great thing about Spreckelsville is its summer (June to August) periods of flat water, that provides for some smooth sailing. Some adventurously start their day at Kanaha beach and can actually sail up to Spreckelsville and spend the rest of the day here. On calmer days, sailors can venture far out into the sea and actually see the turtles that congregate there.

Wind&Waves

Flat water spot

This sand and rock beach gets its intense waves from the easterly winds that appear from onshore. Winter (December to February) can bring waves that as high as 30 ft .

Facilities

One of Maui’s most beautiful beaches, it is a popular destination for vacationing families to enjoy the sun and the water. There are many hotel accommodations and beach houses to choose from, not mention places to eat as well.

Safety

Sometimes, Spreckelsville’s winds can be a little too intense, leaving you with sore arms at the end of the day. Novices should avoid days where waves are enormous.
