General Information

Level:4-10 Season:April 30 — October 1

This is another good spot, one of the best on the coast, but it is only suitable for experienced surfers. It has a good atmosphere and has been a popular surfing spot for decades.

Beach

The beach has a good width and length to it, so there is a fair bit of room. The location is exactly where you’d guess it is – right on the state line between Delaware and Virginia. Drive north from Ocean City and stop just before Fenwick Island – the break is plain to see.

Wind&Waves

Flat water spot

For this spot to give its best the wind needs to be coming from the west or the north east, and the swell should be from the northeast. It will start working at less than 1m and hold up to 2.5m, bigger on a good day. Catch it on a falling tide for the best results, and although it does work at all tide positions you should be aware that the wave faces are very steep at low tide. A normal beach break, right and left, the waves are pretty fast and a normal day will give wave lengths of up to 150m, while a good day following a storm will see the length increase to about 300m. It is a quiet spot on weekdays, but gets crowded during weekends and vacations.

Facilities

Ocean City is very close to this spot and has everything you want. Even if you aren’t surfing, this party town offers plenty of entertainment at all times of day and night.

Safety

Be wary of the rips and undertows here, they can be stronger than the average. The locals are ok but don’t drop in on them.
