General Information
Level:0-10 Season:April 1 — November 1 -
Situated on Italy's north western coast in the region of Liguria lies the resort of Sturla which is popular with kitesurfers of all levels and ability. The season runs from April to November although off season is possible.
-
Beach
-
The beach is small and pebbly although there is room to launch and land a kite. There are a couple of small beachside bars serving food and drinks, but little else at this spot. It can get busy during the summer months and so may be best avoided at that time. Sturla is very close to Genova airport and clearly sign posted.
-
Wind&Waves
-
The winds are predominantly frontal easterlies with the best directions for this spot being east southeast, south east, south southeast and south. The winds are best from March through to June. The rest of the year the winds are a little irregular and it can be gusty. The water is crystal clear and tide independent. It tends to be mainly flat to choppy although you can get some small waves, depending on the wind direction and strength. The summers are warm here and the water is around 26 degrees so you can get by with just a pair of shorts or a shorty. Come the winter months and you will need to suit up.
-
Facilities
-
There is parking here, adjacent to the beach but very few other facilities. Sturla has a few shops, bars and restaurants plus accommodation but there is very little nightlife here. You are only a stone's throw away from Genova which has a wide selection of eateries and places to stay plus some good nightlife if you feel like partying the night away.

Safety

This is a relatively safe spot so just observe the usual safety procedures.
