General Information
Level:0-10 Season:May 1 — October 31 -
This sweetly named spot is just northeast of Kahului, and it is one of a sucesion of good beaches along this part of the coast. You can surf, windsurf and kitesurf here, though a bit of experience is necessary for kiters as the space is limited.
-
Beach
-
The beach is small and sandy, sitting just within a small cove that is bounded by trees. Despite the proximity to the airport and the town, you don’t feel like you are in a city and in fact you can’t really see it from here until you move out on the water.
-
Wind&Waves
-
Wind tends to pick up here at about 9a.m. and blows right through to early evening, from May until October. The best, and the main, direction is from the northeast and it can come in at well over 20 knots, though it does so consistently and doesn’t really get gusty. At other times of year the wind is lighter but still useable, though maybe a bit less consistent. Surfers will be ok here all year round, and will find consistent waves reaching about 3m or so regularly.
-
Facilities
-
There are no facilities here except for the parking at the end of Cane, and you’ll then have a walk of 5 minutes or so through the tress to the beach. Kahului is only a few minutes’ drive away and is the place to be based, with plenty of choice when it comes to accommodation and bars, restaurants etc.
-
Safety
-
Trees are close to the west end of the beach so kiters need to be careful, and there are some submerged rocks that are best avoided.
