General Information
Level:0-10 Season:May 1 — October 1 -
The Sultana Beach Resort is located in Hurghada which is the second largest city in Egypt, after Suez, on the Red Coast. Hurghada's proximity to the airport coupled with its average year round temperature of 30 degrees make it a prime tourist spot and the shallow waters in front of the Sultana Beach resort are ideal for beginners learning to kitesurf or windsurf.

Beach
-
The beach in front of the resort is small and sandy and its lagoon is perfect for teaching beginners. Its shallow area is 300 meters wide by 400 meters long when a normal NNW wind is blowing. You can get here by following the coastal road where the resort can be found about 2 km north of Hurghada city.

Wind&Waves
-
The winds are thermals which mainly blow from the north, north east, north northeast, north west and north northwest, of which all these directions work well here. The winds are pretty constant with the best months to surf being May to October. The water is shallow for about 300 meters and flat depending on the tide and sometimes the lagoon even runs dry. There are some areas with coral, but they are easy to see and at a low tide you can actually kite above them. After 300 meters the water gets deep and there are some waves if the wind is strong. There are a couple of reefs with two shallow reefs being marked by two flags. This is the entry point for the deep water for windsurfers. It is recommended to wear shoes because of the sharp coral.

Facilities
-
There are plenty of facilities here including rooms, a kitesurf school, a shop selling all the gear, as well as a repair and rental shop. In addtion there are toilet and shower facilities on the beach as well as places to buy food. You can easily take a taxi into nearby Hurghada where there is a wide choice of hotels, bars, restaurants, and shops. The nightlife is also pretty good here with a choice of discotheques.
-
Safety
-
You are not offically supposed to launch and land in front of the hotel but usually a blind eye is turned. There is a big sandy beach next to Sultana which is great for kiters.
