General Information
Level:6-10 Season:January 1 — December 31 -
If you know what you are doing this is an excellent big wave. If you don't know what you are doing, you'd better stay on the shore and take photographs of the pros with the rest of the tourists. It doesn't break very often, but when it does you'll know about it.
-
Beach
-
The beach is really just a thin strip of sand, right next to the Pacific Coast Highway and with a lot of rocks by the shoreline. You will know you are here either by the crowds or by the three rocks that stick way out of the water at low tide. This is a crowded place at the best of times, and when the swell is really up you'll hardly be able to move for bodies.
-
Wind&Waves
-
When the swell is coming from the north-west or the west it will start working at less than 1 m and eventually reach over 5 m, but it only does so on a falling tide and at the low tide position. It only breaks to the right over a reef, and the waves are fast and powerful, not to mention hollow, hence the name of the spot. Length is better than the average for Ventura, and you can expect over 100 m most of the time and up to 300 m occasionally.

Facilities
-
Parking is about 5 minutes away on the other side of the road, and that's the nearest you get to facilities here. Oxnard city is just a short drive away.
-
Safety
-
Watch out for the rocks, and there are plenty of shark sightings although they shouldn't cause any bother as long as you heed the warnings. Locals look down on anyone they don't know, and the water also has a reputation for being dirty.
