General Information
Level:4-10 Season:May 1 — November 30 -
This is another good Montauk spot that can compete with the best Long Island has to offer when it’s on. It’s a bit fickle, but has a good atmosphere and works well during hurricane season.
-
Beach
-
The beach is at the bottom of the cliffs at the end of Ranch Road, but beware it’s private and you might get a ticket if you’re unlucky. The beach is sandy but the shoreline is rocky and stony.
-
Wind&Waves
-
The wind is good at this spot when it comes from the north, northwest or northeast and the swell works in opposition, coming from the southwest, south or southeast. It is only good on a rising tide, and then only at mid or high tide positions, when you’ll get a wave that starts at 1m – 1.5 and builds up to just over 3m. It breaks on a rocky reef, only to the right, and the waves come in pretty fast but don’t have more power than you’d expect. Length here isn’t too bad, as even a normal day will go up to 150m and a good day can be 200m- 300m. The east peak is fast and long, while the west is shorter and more of a wedge

Facilities
-
There are no facilities here. It’s a pretty secluded area with only big, expensive private houses nearby, so watch you don’t get tickets for leaving your car in the wrong place.
-
Safety
-
There are strong currents here, and you can easily get pushed into the boulders if you wipe out while trying snake someone, so play fair.
