General Information
Level:0-10 Season:May 1 — September 30 -
This spot has been known by surfers for decades, yet it is rarely visited today. It is suitable for all experience levels and is a good spot to spend a day.
-
Beach
-
It’s all sand here, and the beach is long and wide. There is no access for vehicles, so you’ll need to paddle across from the Shanty Town area of Ocean City and then take a long walk (about 30 minutes) up the beach back towards Indian River inlet. The jetty you see there is the Wedge.
-
Wind&Waves
-
A good wind direction here is when it is coming out of the northwest or west, while the swell is good when coming from the south, southeast, east or northeast. The waves start working at about 1.5m – 2m, but they don’t get a whole lot bigger than that, eventually holding up at about 2.5m. The spot works on all tide positions, and it doesn’t matter whether they are rising or falling. This beach break only breaks on the left, and the waves are hollow with just enough power to be fun. The length is pretty consistent, around 100m or so no matter what the conditions are like. It is usually virtually empty, but on occasion can get crowded.

Facilities
-
There is nothing here at all, but Ocean City is right across the way and that has a lot to offer for visitors, whether they want to stay or just grab some food or kit on the way over.
-
Safety
-
Be wary of the current on the paddle across, it can be strong. Wear boots or be careful you don’t step on any urchins, and keep an eye open for sharks.
