General Information
Level:0-10 Season:April 1 — October 31 -
Although it is surfable by everyone, this spot has its moments and can even give surfers the odd tube. It’s mostly surfed by locals, but there isn’t any hassle and the atmosphere is good.
-
Beach
-
The beach is sandy and open to the public but you’ll need a pass to get on it. It’s hot and humid in summer, but the best time to come is in the fall when the temperatures have dropped to below 20c and the storms are pushing the bigger swells in.
-
Wind&Waves
-
Good wind directions here are when it comes from the northwest or northeast, and the swell is best when rolling up from the south or the northeast. The swell starts working at less than 1m and will easily hold up to over 2m, though you do need to make sure you catch it high tide to get the most out of it. It’s a beach break and only breaks to the left, but the waves are hollow and fast and will generally give a fun ride. Length is usually short at less than 50m, but on a good day you can see up towards 300m. You won’t see anyone else out here during the week, and at weekends there will be no more than a handful of others out.

Facilities
-
Parking is in the lot by the bridge, then there’s a trail down to the beach. There are no facilities on the beach but there is a surf shop within about a ten minutes walk.
-
Safety
-
There are some strong rips here that can pull you into boat channel or back under the bridge, so make sure you can paddle reasonably well. There can also be some pollution here, so try not to fall in with your mouth open.
