Trabucador / Tarragona / Spain

Trabucador is situated on a shallow lagoon at the point where the river Ebro flows into the sea. It is a perfect spot for kitesurfers and windsurfers and is great for beginners due to the shallow waters. There is no real season here although October to April are the best months.

The beach is long and sandy and completely hazard free. There is plenty of room to assemble and rig your kite apart from the summer months of June, July and August when you could be jostling with holidaymakers. The best months fro surfing are probably October through to April to make sure of avoiding the crowds.

The wind is pretty constant here with the best directions being north, south east and south west. The water is flat to choppy depending on the wind strength and direction and there are small waves with westerly winds on the ocean side. There is a large shallow area, up to waist deep, which is great for beginners. The water temperature is pleasant during the summer months and you only really need to wear shorts. For fall and spring you would need either a shorty or long legs and a full wetsuit for winter.

The facilities are great here with there being a kite school, a rental shop, launch area, rescue center, accommodation and parking. If you need supplies then the nearest town is Sant Carles de Rapita but if you really want to let your hair down, it might be an idea to head into Barcelona.

There are absolutely no safety issues here, just be aware of swimmers in the water during the summer months.
