Located on the far western coast of Sicily lies the city of Trapani which affords some spectacular views of the Meditteranean's beautiful sunsets. It is a popular spot for wind surfing and kite surfing for all levels of experience, with a season from April to November, although off season is possible.There is also a lot of sailing in this area.

Beach

The beach is medium sized and sandy with shallow water which extends for miles. The beach is obstacle and hazard free. You can get here by flying to Palermo airport and the spot is north of Marsala.

Wind&Waves

The winds come from a variety of directions here, although predominantly from the north, and pretty much any of them work. They are strongest during Spring and Fall although summer still sees regular wind. The water is crystal clear and quite warm as it is shallow for miles. It's a great place for beginners as the water is only waist deep. The summers are warm here and you'll only need a pair of shorts or a shorty. Come the winter months, though, and you will need to suit up accordingly.

Facilities

There are shower and toilet facilities on the beach and places to buy a drink or grab a bite to eat. You can also park quite near by. Trapani has a good selection of shops, bars and restuarants and an assortment of accommodation. There are also a few nightclubs and discotheques should you feel like letting your hair down.

Safety

This spot is quite safe. Just watch out for crowded beaches and swimmers in the water during the busy summer months. Also keep an eye out for boats.
