General Information
Level:4-10 Season:November 1 — March 31 -
Waikiki beach is probably the most popular spot for tourists in Hawaii, and as you can probably guess it's a good place for windsurfing and kite surfing.
-
Beach
-
The beach here is sandy and small, and because of its popular location it is often crowded. It also has rocks by the shoreline and kiters need to be able to handle themselves well in order to avoid them. The water temperature here never drops less below 25C, and the airtemperature will be between 25 and 30c all year round.
-
Wind&Waves
-
The best months for the wind here from November to March and the best wind direction is when it comes from the south or the south-west. The wind here might not be strong as it is in some other places, but you can rely on it to be fairly consistent. The water around here is shallow, and inside the barrier reef you'll find it is flat with waves up to 3m at the reef edge.
-
Facilities
-
This is one of the premier tourist destinations in Hawaii, and because of this it has more facilities on hand than most other places. You can find accommodation within a short walk of the beach, and there are toilets, showers, and places to buy food and drink right by here. Parking is close by to, though on busy days you might not be able to find a spot less than five or ten minutes walk from the beach.
-
Safety
-
There are plenty of things going on here, and you need to be on the ball to stay safe. Hazards include swimmers, boats, the coral reef and wave breakers.
