General Information
Level:10-10 Season:April 1 — November 1 -
Weidefeld is located on the north coast of Germany looking out to the Baltic Sea. It is a popular holiday destination during the summer months and a good spot for sailing. The area receives some good east winds from the Baltic which makes it attractive for experienced surfers, windsurfers and kitesurfers. The season runs from April to November.

Beach
-
The beach has soft sand and no pebbles and is spacious enough for starting and landing a kite. It does get very packed with holiday makers during July and August and if you come at this time then it is best to arrive really early in the morning or leave it until much later in the day. You can get here by driving into Kappel and taking a right turn where it is signposted “Strand” . This will take you to a parking lot and if you park on the right hand side, you are directly onto the beach. Parking fees apply during the season.

Wind&Waves
-
The main winds are frontal westerlies which do not work at this spot. The best directions are easterlies or north winds and these are usually best from fall to spring. The average wind speed during the year is 13 knots. The water is clean and there are very good waves with all easterly directions of wind, with a stronger shore break with stronger easterlies. The best waves are in the north or north east at the mole. This is definitely not a place for beginners. When it is very packed with sunbathers and swimmers, it is best to start right in the water. The summers are good here and water temperature averages between 5-20 degrees (spring to summer) with an air temperature of around 18 degrees which can rise as high as 30 degrees in the summer. Winters are very cold although off season is possible if you wear all of the right clothing.

Facilities
-
There are toilet facilities here and places to buy food. If you need shops, restaurants and bars then you need to drive into Schleswig which has plenty to choose from. If you are seeking nightlife, then Schleswig is definitely the place to go.

Safety
-
This is not a place for beginners. Also stay out of the swimmers' zone.
