General Information

Level:8-10 Season:April 1 — October 1

Wremen is situated on the north west coast of Germany and is suitable for kitesurfers and windsurfers from intermediate to expert level with a season from April to October.

Beach

No actual beach to speak of but there is a concrete promenade with a grassed area from which to assemble and launch the kite. The water is accessed via a few steps leading down and is about 1 metre in depth below the promenade at high tide.

Wind&Waves

Flat water spot

The frontal winds are mainly coming from southerly or westerly directions and are dependent on depressions, with the best winds occurring from fall to spring. The spot works wells in any wind direction except easterly and surfing conditions are excellent if you can catch a south or south west wind. The spot works best for just a few hours before and after high tide. The water tends to be quite choppy during high tide whereas other times offer excellent flat water conditions. The waves, if any are small, under 1 metre and the water is best described as being dirty, since the area is sited at the river mouth. The water temperature ranges from about 5oC in the spring to around 20oC in the summer, with air temperatures rising to as high as 30oC at the peak of summer. Out of season surfing can be extremely cold although not impossible.

Safety

You need to be aware of the concrete promenade plus onshore or strong winds can make entering and leaving the water rather hazardous.
