General Information
Level:5-10 Season:April 1 — October 1 -
Just 18 km from Bodrum and on the north eastern tip of the Bodrum pensinsula lies the charming seaside resort of Yalikavak. It used to be the Bodrum area's main fishing port but today it is considered one of the elite destinations to visit with its bustling town, beautiful beachs and magnificent scenery. It is a good spot for windsurfers who are at least of intermediate level but the often gusty conditions make it less popular for kitesurfers. The season is from April to October although it is possible to ride out of season.

Beach
-
The beach is medium sized and sandy and free from any obstacles or hazards. With a backdrop of hills it is a lovely place and very quiet. Even in the height of the summer, this beach does not see all that many tourists.
-
Wind&Waves
-
The winds blow predominantly from easterly directions and are pretty constant most of the year. The winds are often gusty apart from when the wind is coming from the west and then it is onshore. The water is a magnificent azure blue and crystal clear. It tends to be mostly flat to choppy and independent of the tide. The summers are hot here but there is always a cooling breeze and so you can get by with just a pair of shorts and a lycra. Come the cool winter months and you will need to suit up accordingly.

Facilities
-
There is plenty of parking here and a few beachside cafes serving up some delicous locally caught fresh fish. Yalikavak has a few shops, bars and restaurants but it is not as built up as some of the other coastal resorts. You may like to head into Bodrum for more choice of facilities and some nightlife.

Safety
-
This spot is reasonably safe for windsurfers but kitesurfers need to be wary of the often gusty conditions. Just have your wits about you and observe the normal safety procedures.
