General Information
Level:0-10 Season:May 1 — September 1 -
Situated on the northern tip of Tunisia on the peninsula of Cap Bon lies the town of Yasmine Hammamet. It is a very popular spot for wind surfers and kite surfers of all levels and abilities. This spot does get crowded with tourists and bathers, especially during, June, July and August, however there is still plenty of room for surfers, as long as you keep to the far end of the beach. The best times to surf here are from May through to September when the thermal winds come into play.

Beach
-
Yasmine Hammamet has a large soft white sandy beach with plenty of space to surf, even in the busy season. To get here you will need to drive south out of the city of Hammamet towards the town of Yasmine Hammamet, here you will see signs for the beach where you can park.
-
Wind&Waves
-
The predominant wind direction is north or variations thereof and all these northerly directions work really well here. During the summer months at around noon, the thermal winds kick in at around 3-4 bft and last till around 6pm. In the winter the winds are less frequent but much more gusty. The water quality is clean and conditions are flat to choppy pretty much all of the time. The water temperature remains somewhere between 20-28 degrees depending upon the time of year so even in the winter you can get away with a light summer suit (2-3 mm)
-
Facilities
-
This is a popular tourist spot so the infrastructure, as you would expect, is very good. Here you have shower and toilet facilities, a campsite close by, a surf school with a shop and rental equipment hire, a rescue center plus plenty of beach bars that do a good selection of cheap food. If you want to let your hair down then you don't have to travel far, Hammamet has a good selection of restaurants and discotheques.
-
Safety
-
This is a pretty safe spot. Just be mindful of the swimmers and bathers in and around the water during the busy summer months.
